Emily practices a range of civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance defence. Her areas of focus are construction law, fraud, and products liability. Emily tackles diverse legal challenges in several areas of law and is praised for her incisive problem solving. She joined us as an associate in 2014 with the confidence, tenacity, and efficiency necessary to provide exceptional value to her clients.

While attending law school, Emily dove into as many litigation and advocacy opportunities as she could. She took on cases for the Queen's Legal Aid Clinic, Pro Bono Canada, and assumed an executive role with the Human Rights Law Club. During law school, Emily completed an intensive summer term with a prestigious Canadian criminal law firm, where she worked closely on high profile cases.

As part of her last year of law school, Emily attended the University of Hong Kong studying local, international, and Chinese law. Upon graduation from law school, Emily was awarded the David Sabbath Prize in International Environmental and Resource Law for her paper on the protection of wildlife in Canada. Emily joined our firm in 2012 as a summer student and returned for a successful articling term in 2013 before becoming an associate.

Outside the office, Emily enjoys spending her summers sailing and her winters snowboarding. She combined a passion for sailing, teaching, and traveling by coaching sailing on the road in her undergraduate summers. She also loves cooking almost as much as eating, road trips in foreign countries, visiting the east coast of Canada, catching a Jay’s game, and just being outdoors year round.
