Profile:

Rachel Leck is a civil litigator in our Ottawa office with expertise in employment and human rights law, and insurance defence. She has represented clients from Stratford to Sault Ste. Marie, and many places in between, and has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Justice in over 20 communities across the province, and various administrative tribunals on behalf of individual and corporate clients. Rachel has also acted in hundreds of private negotiations and mediations for her clients.

Since returning to Ottawa in 2014, Rachel has been dedicated to mentoring women entering the legal profession through formal and informal mentoring. As well, Rachel coaches first-year law students at the University of Ottawa in the intensive Dispute Resolution program, and speaks annually at the Faculty of Law’s Legal Skills workshops.

In addition to her work, Rachel has been a volunteer board member for nearly 20 years with non-profit organizations, including as board chair of a francophone adult literacy agency in the GTA and a women’s shelter and rape crisis centre in Simcoe County. Rachel currently sits on the board of the Orchestre des jeunes de l’Ontario français, and Youville Centre, an agency providing support to adolescent mothers and their children. In September 2018, Rachel was appointed as a Part-Time Commissioner of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

Rachel is fluent in English, French and Italian.
