A Focus on Civil Litigation and Insurance Defence
Profile:
Brittany, starting her legal career as a summer student for McCague Borlack, became well acquainted with both accident benefits and tort claims within the insurance defence context. This experience has provided the framework on how the two areas of law are inter-connected, ensuring she is always one step ahead on her clients' files and always promoting their interests.
While articling with the firm, Brittany assisted her mentoring lawyers with a trial which involved a complex insurance law dispute - Roy v Primmum Insurance, 2020 ONSC 3886. In addition to this trial experience, Brittany appeared before the Superior Court of Justice for various motions. While Brittany's civil litigation practice focuses primarily on insurance defence, she also assists with employment law, human rights, and family law files.
While at law school, Brittany was a caseworker for the poverty-law clinic in Windsor Ontario, Community Legal Aid. She also ran Pro Bono Students Canada’s “Wills Project”, where she drafted wills and designed estate plans for vulnerable clients. Brittany also fiercely advocated in Windsor Law’s Zuber Moot Competition before Justice Lois Roberts, Justice Renee Pomerance, and Justice Lloyd Dean, which led to a win for the Respondents!
Outside of the office, Brittany enjoys spending time at the dog park with her Boxer puppy, playing piano, doing interval training, or gardening.
