Profile:

Matthew is a results-oriented litigator for businesses and individuals in civil, commercial, regulatory, and enforcement proceedings, at the trial and appellant level. He has represented clients at the Federal Court of Canada, all levels of court in Ontario – including the Court of Appeal, Divisional Court, Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Justice, and Small Claims Court – as well as courts in other provinces/territories, and numerous administrative tribunals.

A confident and methodical advocate, Matthew takes a practical and strategic approach in order to advance his clients’ interests, including those facing sensitive and high-stakes disputes. His practice encompasses a broad range of areas, including insurance and personal injury claims involving motor vehicle liability, statutory accident benefits, occupiers' liability, commercial general liability, professional liability, construction and property defects, product and manufacturers' liability, provincial offences, landlord/tenant, intellectual property, torts, and breach of contract disputes.

Additionally, Matthew believes in accessible justice and has spent hundreds of hours representing pro bono clients, in order to safeguard the rights of under-resourced individuals and groups. He continues to act as amicus duty counsel through Pro-Bono Ontario.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Matthew worked in the technology, oil and gas, aerospace, construction, risk management, and entertainment industries. He understands the pressures leaders face and how best to strategically guide them in their legal concerns.
