Mila practices civil and commercial litigation with a focus on subrogation and contract disputes. As a Registered Canadian Trademark Agent, Mila is Chair of the firm's Trademark Law practice area, which deals with trademark availability searches, prosecution, and portfolio management, as well as infringement opinions.

Prior to joining McCague Borlack, Mila worked in an intellectual property practice at an international firm and a mid-size firm. This experience included drafting trademark applications and arguments to overcome objections from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, for high-profile clients in the alcohol, gaming, media & entertainment, fashion, and technology industries. She went on to grow her practice at an intellectual property boutique, where she belonged to a team that managed a worldwide trademark portfolio for a leading Canadian medical cannabis company.

While in law school, Mila was a Research Assistant for Professor Michael Geist, the Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-Commerce Law at the University of Ottawa. Her research included a variety of technology and privacy issues. Mila also provided citation and fact-checking reviews for the book, "Law, Privacy and Surveillance in Canada in the Post-Snowden Era".

All of these unique experiences enable Mila to bring in-depth insight and perspective to her clients' commercial litigation issues. As a practical and creative problem solver, Mila always looks to resolve client matters in the most efficient way possible.

When not at work, Mila enjoys swimming, skiing, basketball, golf, biking, and creating healthy desserts. She also loves to practice yoga and is a Certified Face Yoga Instructor (link).
