Prior to law school, Joseph began his undergraduate journey by earning a Bachelor of Science at the University of Ottawa. He switched gears to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN - compressed stream) at Trent University and graduated in 2017. After graduation, Joseph worked as a registered nurse (RN), and his primary area of practice was within Ontario’s forensic mental health system. Joseph spent the bulk of his nursing career as a “charge nurse” and assumed the role of Interim Manager of two inpatient units in the months prior to entering law school. Joseph supplemented his nursing experience with training in psychotherapy techniques (CBT and DBT) and risk management (HCR20-V3). Joseph’s nursing career fueled his passion for advocacy, leadership, and client-centred care.
Alongside his legal studies, Joseph continues to practice as a registered nurse and works with Canadian veterans. This experience provides great insight into the practice areas he wishes to pursue, including accident benefits, professional liability, product liability, and technology-related torts.
In his downtime, Joseph enjoys spending time with his young family.
I am working on a file that involves admiralty law, a practice area I had hoped to encounter this summer. What interests me about admiralty law is its reach and impact span every corner of the globe.
