Jason has quite a diverse background with experience in multiple areas of law gained at a boutique law firm and as in-house counsel, thus providing a unique perspective and skill set as a lawyer. His efficiency, expediency, and solutions-based behaviour are why his clients consistently seek his guidance in resolving their legal challenges.
While practicing at an award-winning film and television production company, his role included overseeing a team of professionals who faced novel and ever-changing legal issues without precedents to help guide their process and resolution-seeking efforts. Most of Jason's work was commercial in nature. However, some unique and intense legal challenges included setting up and implementing the American Fair Dealing doctrine for a large-scale Canadian-based international documentary, as well as ensuring that the project could not be seen as contravening the little-used Prohibiting Profiting from Recounting Crimes Act (Ontario).
Jason also participated in various motions, settlement conferences, mediations, and discoveries at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice level and numerous trials at several Small Claims Courts throughout Ontario in the areas of insurance defence, product and property liability, commercial litigation, and family law.
He thoroughly enjoys his legal practice, for while there are consistent similarities between each case, there are different attributes on each file, which requires one to remain diligent to determine what options exist to obtain the best resolution.
Outside the office, Jason enjoys various physical fitness activities, including hot yoga, and going with his partner and dog, Bentley, to the park. He also enjoys participating in community theatre, both on stage and behind the scenes.
