Yeru Tan is a JD candidate at Western Law, Class of 2026. Her passion for oral advocacy began with high school mooting and has continued to flourish in law school, where she placed as a finalist in a Negotiation Competition at Western University and has participated in a range of competitive moot experiences.
Yeru is currently a Research Assistant in the area of tort law, where she assists in analyzing case law and doctrinal developments—an experience that strengthens her understanding of liability, causation, and damages. Her analytical precision and legal writing skills are assets she brings to her work.
She has also worked with Pro Bono Students Canada, providing accessible legal information in immigration and labour law. This role, combined with her years of experience in client service, has sharpened her ability to communicate complex legal ideas clearly and empathetically—skills that are essential in litigation practice.
At Western, Yeru serves as Co-Chair of the Tax Law Club, where she organized and led a student moot and helped support the academic and professional development of fellow members. She is fluent in Mandarin and currently learning French.
Outside of law, Yeru enjoys staying active through weight training and running. She’s also an avid gamer, appreciating the strategic thinking and problem-solving that gaming sharpens—skills she finds invaluable in the legal field.
