Emily summered at McCague Borlack in 2024 and has returned as an articling student since completing her JD at Queen’s University in 2025. Prior to attending Queen’s, Emily completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo, where she majored in English Literature and minored in History.
During her time as a law student, Emily worked as a student caseworker for the Queen's Family Law Clinic, where she developed advocacy skills while strengthening her connection to the Kingston community. Emily was also a member of the Queen’s First Generation Network, where she assisted in creating and running the Workshops program, which provided all students at Queen’s with an opportunity to learn about law school, with a special focus on students who did not have the advantage of having lawyers in their family. In her final year at Queen’s, Emily was the Vice President Administrative in the Queen’s Law Students’ Society, where she assisted with scheduling and organizational tasks, as well as participated in discussions and voting on pressing matters within the Queen’s Law community.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys riding her horse, participating in show jumping competitions, spending time with her dog, reading, and running.
The first day of work is always daunting, there’s no way around it. Thanks to the orientation program at McCague Borlack, I felt as well prepared as I possibly could be.
