Olivia’s civil litigation practice focuses on insurance defence, with particular expertise in professional liability matters. She also regularly handles property damage claims, motor vehicle accident litigation, human rights matters, and occupiers’ liability cases, including slip and fall claims.

Olivia has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Small Claims Court, the Licence Appeal Tribunal, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

She joined McCague Borlack LLP after practising at a Toronto-based insurance defence firm, where she developed a strong foundation in defending insurers and insureds in complex civil litigation. Olivia is recognized for her practical strategic approach and her ability to clearly communicate risk, liability, and resolution options to clients.

Olivia was a student in the inaugural year of the BA/LLB program at Wilfrid Laurier University. During law school, she was nominated as Vice President of the Canadian Student Law Society and served as a peer mentor to incoming Laurier students at Sussex. She remains an engaged alumna of Wilfrid Laurier University and regularly speaks at student and alumni events.

Outside of the office, Olivia enjoys practising yoga, spending time with friends and family, attending concerts, and exploring new restaurants around the city.

• Olivia successfully co-represented the Applicant employee at a preliminary hearing, which resulted in the case proceeding, despite the Respondent’s position that their union had previously addressed the matters raised.

Tran v. Windows Bars Ltd. Locksmiths, 2024 HRTO 994

• Olivia successfully secured dismissal of a human rights application on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction and abuse of process.
