Simran Sandhu is a JD candidate in the English Common Law program at the University of Ottawa. Prior to law school, Simran attended Brock University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (Co-op, Honours) and graduated on the Dean’s Honours List.
Simran’s interest in advocacy began in high school, where she participated in various mock trials. She carried this interest into her undergraduate studies, competing in DECA case competitions and working as an Undergraduate Student Ambassador. In law school, Simran developed a passion for litigation after taking advocacy-based courses such as Trial Advocacy, Appellate Advocacy, and Dispute Resolution. These experiences provided her with practical insight into oral advocacy and further solidified her interest in the practice.
Simran enjoys being actively involved in school clubs and initiatives. She is currently the Vice-President of Finance for the University of Ottawa’s South Asian Law Students Association, a peer mentor for the Allies in Law program, and a 2L Representative for both the Punjabi Law Students’ Association and the Social Justice Society.
In her spare time, Simran enjoys reading, solving puzzles, exploring cafés, and (nervously) watching Toronto sports.
